Summary | 0014999: UPnP: Timeout and force close on Closing of application
Description | It looks like UPnP Server can lock into loop on MMW close thinking that there is still access to it which prevent MMW to close for more than an hour in some cases. We should see if there is an way to force close on timeout while showing background processes are running could also help to force close UPnP

User is indicating that it is caused by Windows update KB4338818, but I am unable to replicate on Windows 7 Pro with the same update installed. Prepared UPnP.dll with more debug messages for the user and sent to him... |

User is indicating that he can no longer reproduce and that he also can no longer install the Windows update, info in the ticket: In any case, I just posted a comment on the forums about this problem. Apparently the MS update (KB4338818) has caused lots of problems with other software and removal of that update resolves the problem, as it did for me. Consequently, I don't think this is a problem for MMW but rather a problem that Microsoft caused. With respect to trying to modify the UPnP.dll, I can't do that because once I removed KB4338818 and hid that update from installing, I've tried to reinstall the update to help further research this problem. Although I may be able to install the update as a standalone update, Windows 7 is now reporting that my system is up to date, even though this update is NOT installed. In fact, when I specifically "unhid" the update and it said it was available for download, the installation failed! Subsequent attempts to run Windows Update show that my system is up-to-date and that no other updates are necessary. I don't know if Microsoft pulled this update or not but it is no longer available to my system (except perhaps by an independent standalone update) which I did not do. I will try to install this update if you'd really like me to try but at this point, I'm pretty certain that this issue was caused by MS and not MMW. So resolving.... |
