Summary | 0001553: Song Monitor (Audio Monitor) plugin
Description | The following summarizes recommended changes to the Song Monitor plugin. Changes to fit better with MediaMonkey: -Change name to Audio Monitor -Use the MM audio engine and existing MM plugins (if new support is needed from Jiri, then make the specific request--there shouldn't be a need to package new engine/new plugins, especially when the audio characteristics of the new components may differ slightly from those of MM). -Make it localizable -Make it use the MM skin -Get new icons that fit with MM look and feel (I can help) -Make the plugin use icons from an external directory General Changes (usability and functional bugs): -Change the installation defaults so that it is usable without _any_ changes to config files in a default MM installation (i.e. use default MM paths) -Simplify the instructions (all that should be needed is to extract to \Program Files\MediaMonkey) -Remove the Play Preview button _or_ fix it so that the user can play a preview regardless of whether a preview exists or not -Instead of adding the functionality to the 'Advanced' toolbar, I'd suggest that it makes more sense to add a new toolbar so that the user can place it next to the Player toolbar. -Change the location of the functionality in the context menu--it doesn't make sense in the Send-to menu. Instead it should appear following the Play Now/Play Next/Play Last functions (since this is really new _Play_ functionality. -Change the text as follows: --Plugin tester --> Audio Monitor --Config Output --> Options --Monitor Song --> Monitor Track --Play Song Preview --> Monitor Preview -The 'Pause/Unpause' button often indicates 'Unpause' even when the plugin is playing. Also, 'unpause' isn't really a word--I would consider switching this to a toggle button with a visual cue. -Add a second mode of operation (described by Jiri in bug 0000182) which limits MM/SM to play a single audio stream at any time vs. the current mode which allows for multiple concurrent streams) -Correct the readme (after everything else is done)
