Summary | 0015536: Duplicate podcasts
Description | There seem to be many ( > 100?) duplicate podcast episodes in my library (in some cases more than 2). Could this be because MM5 imports MM4 podcast settings and then re-downloads podcasts even though they already exist? Or perhaps MM5 is run one day, then MM4 is run another day, then MM5 is run the next day...etc. If podcasts are updated each time, and MM4/MM5 isn't aware of updates already downloaded, might it be downloading duplicates? I guess that this would have to be fixed in both MM4 and MM5 (since MM4 can also generate the duplicates which would then appear in the MM5 library). Could it be fixed by having MM4/MM5, as part of the podcast update process, first scanning for new episodes that might exist in the Podcast directory before Updating podcasts, so that Updates wouldn't download duplicate files? Note: this problem would presumably only occur for users testing both MM4 and MM5. But I suspect that many will have a period of co-existence of the two apps.

Verified 2260 Used http://feeds.twit.tv/sn.xml and http://feeds.feedburner.com/Mixfreaks?format=xml as they have 200+ podcasts and as I use them for years tested importing from MM4 |
