Summary | 0001831: Ripping Speed extremely slow in some cases
Description | I tested this with build 843 and 844 and found that the problem still remains. Here are the results of my tests on 2 different machines (note: 'clean boot' means that machine was rebooted and CD was inserted with AutoPlay disabled): Laptop Tests (Sempron 2800--winXP) ================================== 2 Track ~10m total CD-->MP3 (alt-standard) CdEX: 3:23 MM 843 (clean boot): 2:10 MM 843 (immediately after playback): 2:09 MM 844 (immediately after playback): 1:43 CD-->WAV MM 843 (clean boot): 0:57 MM 843 (immediately after playback): 2:07 MM 844 (clean boot): 0:55 MM 844 (immediately after playback): 2:04** ** This was not reproducible 100% of the time (however, a clean boot _always_ resulted in the shorter time) Desktop Tests (P3-450--W2k) =========================== 1 Track 4:36 CD-->WAV MM 844 (clean boot): 0:31 MM 844 (immediately after playback): 1:07 In summary, in all cases, a clean boot resulted in much faster ripping times. In most cases, ripping immediately after playback triggered the bug.

Jiri, I tested this again with 844 without on the fly encoding enabled and the bug still occurs. Is it possible that the installer isn't installing the updated file correctly (i.e. not overwriting previous file or config?). Note: when on the fly encoding isn't enabled, I have no real way of determining that it's not actually using on the fly encoding (i.e. the numbers are almost identical whether OTF encoding is used or not). |

Fixed in build 845. - CD read speed is set to the drive's maximum before ripping any track. |

Verified 845. |
