Summary0018985: Folder navigation from pinned item is now broken (regression)
DescriptionA while ago I asked for facility to pin objects in the Folder View.
LowLander showed me I could pin a Music Share to the Home panel, which would do the job.

This worked OK, but has become broken with a recent release. I am on 2615.

I use the Tree View Element in the Folders node for navigation.
I have the lhs panel (Media tree) closed.

If I navigate to the my Music Share via the pin, the bread crump menu is disconnected to my position within the Tree View Element.
That is a bit confusing, but is (semi) OK if that is the best you can do.

===> #1: The problem is, in the current release, the main panel does not show the contents of the selected folder when I have navigated starting from the pinned position ... ie. the main panel is always empty. ... ie. Folder node is useless when navigating this way.
===> #2: And the Breadcrumb menu is of fixed size, and there is no way to navigate beyond that limit

ie. If I try to navigate via the Bread crump menu I can see the first part of my collection, but not folder contents past G...
ie. the bread crump dropdown appears to have a fixed size ... I can find no way to scroll down past G...
You show an ellipsis, and a little row, with what looks like a down arrow, but it is not functional. (see attached private image, see attached note)

So this workaround only works for the beginning of my collection.
Steps To ReproduceSee attached (private) video (nb: was captured using 2613, but the same thing happens with 2615)
0.00 - 0:34 ... navigate to Folder node, without using the pinned item ... 6 clicks just to get started every time, which is why I was asking for a pin facility (Node -> Network -> Microsoft Network -> Work Group -> NAS -> Music Share
0:34 - 0:41 ... demonstrate that folders are not empty
0:42 - 1:02 ... navigate via Pinned item +==> Folders are now empty ... I believe that this used to work OK
1:20 + ... try to workaround by accessing the folder via the bread crump menu, but it is broken also (you can't see some this because the dropdown opens beyond the MM5 window boundary, so was not captured in the video).
1:29 + ... I position the View Element via the part of the dropdown menu that I can use, and now I am able to see folder contents in the main Panel, but only for thse folders within the fixed size of the bread crumb menu dropdown
TagsNo tags attached.

Tested in 2615 and I'm able to replicate this as well. The problem seems to be that the pinned entry that is generated is a shortcut to the path for _library_ content (whereas it should be directly to the folder--even if it doesn't contain library content). This can be easily replicated as follows:

1 Scan the following directories
ArtistA
 - AlbumA containing trackA
 - AlbumB containing trackB
2 Navigate to Folders > ArtistA
--> folders/tracks appear as expected
3 Pin shortcut to Folders > ArtistA
--> folders/tracks appear as expected
4 Removed Music > Location > ArtistA > AlbumA from the library (leaving the directory AlbumB)
5 Navigate to Music > Location > ArtistA
--> Only AlbumB is shown, as expected
6 Navigate to Home > Pinned folder for ArtistA
--> Only AlbumB is shown!! One would have expected folders for both AlbumA and AlbumB to be shown, but it seems that the pinned location displays what is in the library rather than what's in the folder.

I also have a request.
If I navigate to my music share via a pinned item, I am unable to create any new top level folders
ie. there is no right click menu in the bread crump menu, and when using the "Tree (Folders)" or the "List (Folders)" View Elements there is always a top level folder selected ... so I am unable to create a new folder at the top level ... I can only create a new folder inside the currently selected top level folders

Could you insert a "Create New Folder" node, in these View Elements, which has a Context Menu?
Or could there be a Context Menu on bread crumb elements?
Or something else?

Seems related only to the "Tree (folders)" element and sounds exactly like 0016516 previously fixed

Fixed in 5.0.3.2616

As for the Barry's request re the new folder: This is already possbile by right-clicking to the empty area of the Tree (folders) element and select New Folder like this:

Have you tried to create a new folder using the New Folder menu item there?
I think that will create the folder in 101Classic>CD2, not a top level folder in 101Classic

ie. if my hierarchy is MusicShare>Artist>Albums, I cannot create a folder for a new Artist, but I can add albums to an existing artist.

Thanks for reopening.

I noticed one further issue in the same area today. If I open a new tab when the active tab has been initiated from a pinned folder, the new tab is malformed (ie. No contents, and no bread crumb menu to allow navigation.
See this video: https://www.dropbox.com/s/eu88fd09ne7z7hz/new%20tab%20is%20malformed%20when%20opened%20from%20a%20pinned%20folder%20node.mp4?dl=0
* starts at Home
* opens a pinned Music Share
* navigates to show that content exists
* tries to open a new tab
* +++> ?

Re: Folder creation: I meant right-clicking to the empty area of the Tree (folders) , see image.
Nevertheless I agree that this is not intuitive workaround, so tracking the request as separated issue 0019024

Ludek: Re: Folder creation: I meant right-clicking to the empty area of the Tree (folders) , see image.

Yes, we are talking about the same area.
What I am saying is that I see the menu, but it does not allow creation of a top level folder.
I use right click to open the context menu, and that selects a folder, when I use the New Folder option it creates the folder inside the folder that I am trying not to select.

You say to use an "empty area", but there is no empty area when you have a large top level folder, ie my Music share has 902 artist folders. There is no empty area, even at the top or bottom of that list, and I would need a twenty foot high screen to be able to expand the MM5 panel enough to create some empty space.

Verified 2618 i.e.
1) Originally reported item: pinned items now reflect Folders rather than just Library Locations
2) New tabs created from pinned folders are formed correctly

As to the remaining issue of creation of subfolders, that's tracked at 0019024.
