Summary | 0019001: Capitalization of menu titles should be consistent
Description | Some menu titles have capitalized titles (Party Mode), many menu titles have only first letter uppercased (Download file), some have strange mixes (Add/Rescan files to the Library). I suggest that you use capitalized all menu titles, as it is in Notepad, VSCode, Firefox and many other applications.

We actually removed most capitalization in 5.x, but you're right--there are a couple of items that slipped through: Party Mode --> Party mode Touch Mode --> Touch mode Help Content --> Help On-line Forum --> Forum Technical Support --> Technical support p.s. The approach taken was to always capitalize the first letter of the command, and to capitalize other words only if they represent a command or a special term. |

Ok, I suppose this is a matter of personal preference. I just think you should follow what major software companies like Microsoft are using. I also think that menu titles are like the chapters in the books and magazines, and I think that in most English books and magazines they are capitalized. Anyway, I find the thing is most inconsistent with the "files", which is mostly lowercase, except in "Open URL or File". Also, if you really want lowercased titles, it should be "Rip audio CD", not "Rip Audio CD". And I don't see a reason why "AutoPlaylist" should be different in capitalization then "playlist". |

I agree that consistency is important. " I just think you should follow what major software companies like Microsoft are using" The new MM5 standard is in line with Google, ie. only the 1st word in Menu items are capitalised, with the exception of Proper Nouns (ie. the specific official names of things, eg "About Google Chrome")). I am reading this thread using Google Chrome browser. Everything there follows this rule, with the exception of "What's New" ... maybe they see "New" as a proper noun in that context, but it looks to me that even they have slipped up applying the standard perfectly. |
