Summary | 0019502: Toolbar: non-functional items aren't greyed out
Description | In the MM menu bar or contextual menus, when an item isn't functional, it's greyed out. However, as reported at 0019492 disabled commands appear in the toolbar, are clickable, and not greyed out. Moreover, there's feedback so it's unclear what actually occurred in response to clicking the button. e.g. Paste, FMFS, Send to, etc... Related to this is the fact commands that are irrelevant to the current context always display. e.g. Adjust video: full screen

Context awareness (ie. only show what applies) for the toolbar would probably be best. However it would lead to a constantly changing toolbar which affects muscle memory. Greyed out/disabled buttons would remedy this, while showing that actions are unavailable. Preferably the tooltip would show why the button is disabled. |
