CB7DADE8 is here from user Jim (build 2829) |
Is related to 0020540 -- should be same fix.. |
Reopen It appears not to be fixed LOG ID: CB7DD1F4 Steps LOG (7): 1. Edited two track titles 2. before a third, had to use touchpad horizontal scroll right to look at the folder name 3. MM immediately froze 4. Aprox 30 secs later the crash message showed LOG (8) have same steps except it took editing 20 files before crash. |

CB7DD1F4 is again a freeze log from user Jim.. I am unable to replicate the freeze and the freeze log does not show a reason for the UI freeze. We would need to get: 1) Screencast video showing the issue 2) His database, persistent.json , MediaMonkey.ini 3) Test whether this issue is new to 2829 or whether he can replicate with earlier builds too Ideally ask him to open eSupport ticket and assign to me.. |

As talked offline my suspicion from crash logs that actually Intel UHD 620 GPU on users Surface laptop/tablet is actually making the problem and disabling HW acc in MM Performance Options -> Restart fixed crash and strangely made MM UI smoother. Also I have tested assigning Dedicated GPU and putting MM in High Performance also fixed crashing, but UI was Jumpy and non smooth. After Reverting al changed/custom settings MM did not crashed again for a while, but only after I disabled HW Acc it becam more smoother. Uploaded MM logs, Video, and Screenshots of Windows Changes I have made during this testing. I am not sure if it would be possible to detect such crashes and disable HW Acc automatically (I know it was already requested and was not possible maybe it woudl be worth to check again) |
It is generally impossible to predict whether an issue is caused by HW acceleration.. As I suppose these issues are rare then let ask users to disabled HW acceleration in case of facing similar issues in the future.. So resolving for now. |

All three users confirmed HW ACC disabling fixed the crashes in 2830, other two were using non debug version, but they confirmed MM 2830 not crashing. I added tdoc-kb tag so taht we can update existing or create new KB to cover these cases. NOTE: Starting MM -> Tools -> Options -> Prformance -> Disable HW ACC -> OK -> Close MM worked for all three, so that shoul dbe noted in KB article. |
