Summary | 0020654: Scrolling the main view to the top/bottom with mouse wheel has bad animation
Description | When scrolling the main view to the top/bottom with the mouse wheel, the moving of the list could be really irritating and it can cause visual problems with some people that are sensitive to the flickering. The list could jump up and down several times too fast and too long, depending of that how fast you move the mouse wheel. If you want to have some kind of animation with that view, just take a look at Edge or Firefox with their cool scrolling that moves page up/down slowly and just once. When they reach to the top of page they show several pixels height blank area on the top and then they slowly remove that area. Chrome and File Explorer don't have any animation when scrolling to the top with the mouse wheel, nor any other program that I know. EDIT: Just discovered that this issue happens when the smooth scrolling is enabled in Options. It is very hard to reproduce when smooth scrolling is disabled.

It seems it is easier to reproduce with larger Windows scaling. And if your mouse cursor stays still between grid rows, the upper and lower items will flash alternatively. |
We tried on several computers and cannot reproduce at all, it fluently slows down till the beginning, no shaking. It must need some other specific preconditions. |
I forgot to mention, it happens only with the main view, either List or Grid. In the List view, it is more obvious when the mouse cursor is standing still near the boundary of two rows, when the upper and lower rows change the hovering color alternatively. I cannot notice/reproduce this issue with Tree panel, Tree (Playlists) view element, Column filter, Playing list (either Simplified or full), playlist editor, Organize files, Tag from filename. |
Yes we test it there, but no luck, no such behavior. Don't you have some addon, which could cause this? Please try on clean installation with standard skin. Could be related to some system setting, I tried zoom, but no luck again. |
I removed Portable folder completely and tried with empty database, no additional skins, no addons, using just the Classification / Quality grid as it was on one of the previous videos, and the same issue happened. By the way, if you take a look at my videos again, you will see Material Design, which, I suppose, is standard skin. Well, if nobody of you could reproduce the problem, I suppose maybe it is indeed related to my system settings. But the fact is that I don't have that issue in any other program. And not only that, but the same issue doesn't happen in other tracklists/listviews in your program, but only in the main area. Also, the Playing node in List view (and List (by Album)) has this issue, although the Playing panel in List layout with the same tracklist doesn't have it. |

It means it is probably related to Scroller control. Something in your system is causing, that Scroller control does not work properly. The key is to find what is it. Could be some mouse setting, zoom/text zoom setting, or something new in Windows 11 (I guess you have Windows 11). |
Yeah, I already tough about Scroller control, and remembered that I saw it in the Add/Rescan table. So, I tried adding bunch of folders to it and the issue didn't happen there. But then I checked it again with Inspect Element and saw that there is no more Scroller control in it, so I found one of the last versions that had it in there (I think it was 2829) and tried again, but, guess what, the issue still didn't happen there. So, it seems there is something more than the Scroller control. I just tried to trace it back, the issue with the main view is manifesting even with 5.0.2.2516. I didn't try older versions. Yes, I am using Win 11. As I said, the issue is more noticeable with larger Windows scaling (>=150%). |
