Summary0020924: Auto-tag: Often recommends singles instead of Albums when it shouldn't
DescriptionVery often, when Auto-tag is used to look up metadata for tracks that are missing Album information, MM locates metadata for a single instead of for an album, even though "For individual tracks, recommend albums instead of single from the same time" is enabled.

Examples for which this occurs (uploaded to the ftp server):
Camelot by NLE Choppa
Don't Start Now by Due Lipa
Hate Me by Elie Goulding
Highest in the Room by Travis Scott
TagsNo tags attached.

Problem i see is in definition of 'from the same time' ... we have set the limit to 6 months ... so only when album and single were released within 6 months, album is prefered.

EDIT: found few issues, but we need to discuss limit i mentioned

I would suggest that we change the timeframe to +/- 12 months.

I just retested this again and noticed that the issue isn't fixed for some tracks:
Little Man Tate - Party at Boothy's -- MM finds 'House Party at Boothy's' (single) instead of 'About what you know' (album)
I was a punk rocker - Sandy Thom - MM finds 'I wish I was a punk rocker' instead of 'Live from the basement'

Note: both Albums are within a year of the singles.

Tracks on the ftp server.

re Little Man Tate: track you uploaded is 3:28 long. Track in 'About What You Know' is 4:13 long, but track from the single is 3:13 long ... that's the reason why single was preffered in this case
re I Wish i was punk rocker: track we're looking is 2:32 and exactly same track length is in single ... but track in the album you mentioned is 2:41

So the question is ... when album is prefered over singles, make track similarity less important ?

The current behavior is correct then. I hadn't realized why MM was making the recommendation for the single. Re-resolving.
