Summary0021494: Audio CD playback: Drive spins down in some environments causing lag between tracks
DescriptionWhen playing an Audio CD this can happen with some drives:
1) Play 'Audio CD' and MediaMonkey buffers Track01, after say 30 seconds drive spins down
2) Once playback of Track01 ends drive spins up to buffer next track, but there is a gap caused by spinning
3) If user seeks near to the end of Track01 (say 15 seconds) then the transition is seamless as the drive is still spinning

So the solution is to buffer the track more fluently (e.g. just 10 seconds in advance) and not the whole track

May suggest that for Audio CD we also use buffer like for MP3 Tracks to set GAIN, Remove Silence, ... If Gapless mode is enabled,

Also I think it would Spin up CD even if we just query Track Available?

The changes seem to have resulted in numerous playback regressions.

In build 3104:
Seeking forward/back within a track usually works, though it sometimes cause 'Buffering on' to appear and then skip to the next track.

In build 3109:
- Sometimes just playing the CD causes 'Buffering on' to appear and then MM skips to the next track
- Moving the seekbar forward aften causes 'Buffering on' to appear and playback doesn't resume
- Moving the seekbar back always causes 'Buffering on' to appear and playback doesn't resume
- Pressing BACK often causes 'Buffering on' to appear and playback doesn't resume

EDIT: the first issue "- Sometimes just playing the CD causes 'Buffering on' to appear and then MM skips to the next track" also occurs with build 3104 (i.e. it's likely a scratch on the CD).

Verified that the regressions introduced in 3108 have been resolved.
Re-opened to fix the issue post 2024.1
