Summary | 0002695: File Lengths reported incorrectly when headers are incorrect
Description | A couple of users have reported that MM indicates incorrect track lengths for their tracks. This seems to occur when the tracks are encoded with incorrect headers and MM doesn't correctly calculate the track time. Note that iTunes shows the time correctly, whereas WMP doesn't. Track length is 3:04 MM displays: 0:01 MM using in_mpg123 shows: 0:01 iTunes shows: 3:03 WMP: shows: 0:01 According to Jiri, there are 3 sources of track length metadata: ID3v2, VBR headers, or MPEG headers. MM currently has a pretty good algorithm 2 choose which one of these are correct in the case of a conflict, but there may be room to improve (one user indicated that he has several hundred tracks that exhibit this problem).
