Assigning to Rusty for a review on Vista. If there's such issue, we need to decide whether to fix it in MM 2.5.5 and what to do in this case. It would probably be related to AdjustTokenPrivileges Win API function (http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/secauthz/security/adjusttokenprivileges.asp), but it's just a guess, more info would be needed. |
I would suggest that if we will have MM 3.0 ready for January that there isn't a need to resolve this on the 2.x branch (assuming changes to CD handling for the 3.0 build resolve this particular issue). |
Since we won't do anything about it for MM 2.5, I'm decreasing priority and assigning to Rusty for further testing with Vista. |
Reminder sent to: Ludek Ludek, if you have anything that you could add to this issue (test of MM on Vista, anything about hpcde vs. Vista, ...), please add it here. |
fyi: When I test 2.5.x on Vista (clean install) using in_cdreader.dll, playback and ripping both work correctly when logged in as Admin or Standard user. So I'm really not sure of why users are experiencing problems. |
I was tested it without in_cda (it causes some problems in Vista .. like 2809 issue) plugin and via hpCD it works fine (without admin rights). |
CDs now play correctly in Vista. The only remaining problem is that some tuning may be required to the in_cda.dll as described in 2809. |
