Summary | 0002745: Synchronization to Sony Devices
Description | It would be nice to be able to support synchronization for Sony devices. This is not critical (and is set to 'high') for 3.0 because: a) it can be added without any string changes b) it's unclear whether this buys us many new users (i.e., I expect that far more Sony Walkman phones will be sold and that they won't maintain a proprietary interface for their players).

Increasing priority because if we decide to implement it at all, it makes sense only soon. Based on users asking on our forum I'd expect that quite good number of people would be interested in this, but I agree that it's unclear how many users it would really buy us. I wonder then, whether such specific plug-ins should be not for free, but rather for some small payment? This could well cover our expenses for plug-in development and could increate value of MM. |

I don't think it's a good idea to start charging for such plugins. We're unlikely to make much money off of it, and generate ill will among users (it seems 'cheap'). As to the priority, I still disagree. We need to focus on getting 3.0 out the door with as many key features completed especially if they involve string changes. Once it's out, we can spend time on less critical features and that don't require string changes. |
