Summary | 0002782: wmdm driver: doesn't delete empty directories
Description | If the user auto-synchs to an MTP or USB devices using the wmdm driver, and tracks are deleted from the device, the directory is not deleted even when it is empty. This gradually results in hundreds of empty directories accumulating on the device, making it near-impossible to navigate the directory hierarchy.

Fixed in build 1013. - This was caused by the fact that a hidden album file remained in the folders and so MM didn't delete them as they were considered to be non-empty. I fixed this so that the album file isn't considered. - Technical note: Another approach would be to upload album files (.alb) to \Album folder, as WMP 11 does. I think that previous WMP versions didn't do it this way and so I'm not sure about impact of this. So, given how things currently work, it seems to make things as they currently are. |

Tested 1039, and MM fails to clean up correctly. The problem seems to be related to album art files that are saved to the device--these aren't deleted, and consequently the almost empty directories aren't deleted. |

Fixed in build 1040. - This was caused by upload of .jpg files by 'Save all album art to track folders' option. I fixed the problem and also disabled this option be default, because it makes sense only for some devices, not for most MTP ones or iPods. |
