Summary0002800: MediaMonkey tagging can mess up non-standard tags. Synchronize tags fixes them.
DescriptionAs reported by teknojnky, for some files (it seems as if it's related to the use of non-standard fields), when the user changes the rating on a file (or edits any other standard field), it somehow causes other fields to be deleted (as verified in MP3Tag).

When the user then 'Synchronizes Tags' in MediaMonkey, the deleted fields magically reappear.

Even though this problem isn't apparent in MM, we need to resolve this asap, since it can be destructive/annoying for users of other apps.

Note: Jiri previously indicated that this was simply a problem of MP3Tag (the fact that it doesn't properly read tags that are _after_ an Album Art field. However, I tested this in foobar as well and it doesn't display the affected tags either. So either both MP3Tag and foobar have the same problem, or MM is doing something incorrectly.
Additional InformationExplanation of tracks posted to the ftp server:

#1 start, no problems
#2 changed rating to 5, now strange squares show up in the tag (using MP3Tag)
#3 Synced tags, squares disappeared all tags returned

Summary: changing the rating messes up the tags, syncing fixes them.
TagsNo tags attached.

Comment from teknojnky:
its not only just a problem with mp3tag, the dbpoweramp explorer mouse into tips (what I used for screenshots) is also affected.

My primary concern is why is MM saving tags in TWO different ways... when you change the rating (or any other field) it updates the tags and gets the strange characters.

When you SYNC the files (control S) it saves them correctly.

To me the bug is somewhere in the 'update tags when editing properties' code (for UTF-16 ONLY).

- update tags = broken
- sync tags = works

Hope that helps
