Summary | 0002818: Album Art isn't copied to MTP devices when device is filled to capacity
Description | A user has indicated that if she auto-syncs to device capacity (enabled 'Synchronize random subset to device capacity'), that Album Art is not copied for a large number of tracks. On the other hand, if she restricts the size of the auto-playlist that is being synched to < ~1.8GB ( size of the device is 2GB), then all album art is copied. I'm not able to easily verify this since I don't have any devices other than an iPod that are < 30 GB and support album art. This issue was reported with the iRiver Clix device. A possible solution is to add an option that is enabled by default that leaves x amount of space empty on a device. e.g. [x] Synchronize random subset up to device capacity [x] Synchronized higher-rated tracks more often --> e.g. [x] Synchronize random subset up to device capacity [x] Synchronized higher-rated tracks more often [x] Always leave some empty space on the device: __ MB

To clarify a couple of things: -the always leave empty space option applies whether or not 'Sync random subset...' is enabled -the error message that currently appears is: "There isn't enough space on the device to synchronize selected tracks. Would you like to continue?" We can change this to: "There isn't enough free space to sync all selected tracks. Would you like to continue?" Note: When showing calculations of space taken by the selected tracks, calculate selected tracks + graphics + reserved space One more issue: The current proposal applies only to auto-synchronization (and not manual synchronization). I think that this makes sense, but wanted to run this by you. |
