Summary | 0005498: Duplate analysis should occur as a background process & be enabled by default
Description | Currently, analysis for duplicates can occur during a scan or on-demand (when the user clicks the duplicates node). What should happen instead is that the process should be a background process, exactly like volume analysis. That way the scan would occur immediately, and duplicate analysis could proceed in the background. No UI change is required, other than perhaps changing the default setting to have duplicate analysis enabled by default.

I don't think that this feature is that important, at least not until it compares tracks byte by byte instead of some clever audio matching. Therefore, even if we implement such a background scanning, I don't think it should be enabled by default, users would complaing about strange CPU & Disk activity. |
