The log there doesn't reveal anything. Maybe the usual stuff, like removing MediaMonkey.ini, checking skin files, etc. might be useful. |

based on e-mail discussion, Error E58B0000 which appears in the log is related to insufficient rights (Vista/Win7 .. user without admin rights). It can be thrown when MM is trying to write to the folders (like Program Files) or access registry (HKLM etc.) without admin rights. Is this not a bug that MM is triggering this? Any idea what scenarios would trigger this? Is the solution to run as admin? To install as admin? |
The error in the log actually doesn't necessarily mean anything bad, it's just there as an indicator that MM couldn't update registry on startup. I'd just like to prevent this in the future versions, so that it doesn't cause any confusion in the logs. However, itself it's harmless. |
I'm not sure that it's harmless. In this case MM crashes unless the user runs MM as Admin!? |
I still believe it's harmless, even in this case. Even though it appears in the log, it's most likely completely unrelated to this issue. The reason why elevated rights fix his issue is unclear, particularly when we don't have a Crash report and nothing useful appears in the debug log... |
