Summary | 0006254: Burning Audio CD takes 8 hours on particular Windows 7 (64 bit) systems
Description | We have report from user Craig (Ticket ID ENZ-224979) who purchased a new Windows 7 (64 bit) computer on which burning an audio CD takes 8 hours. He tried also PrimoBurner's AudioCDBurnerU sample app and the result is same (PrimoBurner.log is attached). The issue is drive specific (another drive on the same system works fine). He tried iTunes and there was no problem with burning the same playlist by using the same drive. Another user (from second report) got a brand new Dell XPS 9100 system with a Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) OS, the device manager says that the drive is a TSSTcorp DVD + RW TS H653G. My speculation in both cases is that the system or a system app repeatedly access the drive and thus slow down the AudioBurnerU.exe app. I remember similar issue with a 64-bits OS in the past when it started acts like this for PrimoBurner v2.5 libs and higher (issue 0005023 ). We had to disable one thread in MediaMonkey that was accessing the drive every 30 seconds which ended with the extremly long burning time. It is specific to 64-bits OS and PrimoBurner 2.5 and higher.

PrimoBurner replied that they have scheduled this issue (very slow writing) for v3.0.8. The release is planned for the end of April 2010. But first (they said) that they have to reproduce the problem with HP DVD 1270. |

Solution suggested by Peke that fixed the problem (ticket ID OHT-855070): "Use Device Manager and Uninstall Driver For The device (It should be reinstalled apron next startup). There were reports in the past that some DRM protection low level driver got attached on CD/DVD driver itself." Assigning to Peke to contact the rest 2 users. Peke, once you contact them (and solution will work for them too) you can resolved this issue. |

No additional reports since then and one contacted me on forum PM confirmed that my suggested solution fixed the issue. |
