Summary | 0006280: Include basic debug information in Non-debug installs
Description | It would help support efforts if the non-debug version of MediaMonkey included some basic debug information so that we can more quickly solve 'failed startup' issues. Namely: -Plugins / Scripts loaded -Scripts that fail to load -More info when MM freezes at the splash screen I'm not sure if this is possible, but these issues occur often enough, that it would be helpful.

As talked over IM with Rusty I've created mockup for possible solution and uploaded it to FTP EDIT: In mockup I used physical file MMDevices.log but using registry like HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MediaMonkey\Debug would be much faster although it will not be remembered on BSOD cases where registry is reverted to "Working Last known copy" |

This Forum topic show how we can allow that our users can use MM. Also it proves that something like this feature (Firefox for example call it session managing) will give us more info on what happen. http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=261867#p261867 |

I don't think we need anything general here. Some individual features might be considered, e.g. some prevention of d_iPhone.dll loading in case the previous MM start up failed? It doesn't seem to be too important though... |

I'm not sure that this should be handled per plugin as it will be more dev time to filter all needed plugins to include it than make it globally. Mockup I proposed should be easy to implement as we already send those messages to debug log. Most of apps uses that approach like Photoshop, and Delphi 2010. Additionally it serves double feature which give users loading progress of MediaMonkey (Similar to one used in Delphi 2010) |

I set it as suspended for now to see what feedback we will get in MM4 |

Reopen due the increased number of issues related to apple devices plugin and some WMDM plugin crashes (Not reported anymore with 1476+ builds) |
