Summary | 0006462: Audio Artifacts: clicks on startup and other sounds during playback
Description | Tested on Windows 7-64, AMD Athlon X2 machine MM 4.0.3011 consistently generated audio artifacts at the beginning of tracks (a 'click'), and often generated other artifacts in the midst of playback (static). The startup artifacts consistently occurred on some files and not on others. The artifacts that occurred in the middle of tracks were inconsistent, occurring at different times during playback. MM 3.2.2.1300 on the same machine generates no such artifacts. In addition: - wave_out does not generate these artifacts - out_MMDS from MM 3.2 (running in MM4) does not exhibit the problems Could it be a compilation problem?

It's easily reproducible while using in_mfaudio input plug-in. When this one is disabled, problem disappears. I.e., we should: 1. Fix the problem in the plug-in, it's probably about some audio samples added or missing. 2. Discuss whether this plug-in should take over mp3 playback. It might make sense, but should be discussed and pros and cons summarized here. More over IM. |
