Summary | 0006976: Video playback UI improvements
Description | 1. Small Video window is sometimes called 'Art & Details'. E.g. when it's closed and Video playback starts. Then, after pausing the video, the title changes to 'Video'. 2. When small Video window is closed during playback, the movie continues to play on background. I think that it's safe to suppose the user would like to Stop playback at this moment. 3a. Lock Aspect ratio right-click menu item works for horizontal resizing of the small Video window, but it doesn't work for the vertical one. Does it have any reason. 3b. Lock Aspect ratio is also present in full window playback mode, but doesn't have any effect there? 4. Enlarge Video, Full screen and Reduce video menu items could possibly be better named, I'd suggest 'Small Window mode', 'Full Window mode' and 'Full Screen mode'. 5. 'Move' command shows a window that has a transparency issue. 6. I wonder whether we really need Move command? We can probably leave it there, since it's already implemented, but I don't think that it's too useful, particularly until subtitles support is implemented?

Reminder sent to: petr, rusty I assigned it to Michal, but: 1,2,3 is probably more for Petr. 3,4,6 would need some feedback from Rusty. |
I think, all items are rather for Petr.. Petr, if you will need something from me, let me know. |

3a) The 'lock aspect' ratio functionality is intentionally designed to only function for horizontal resizing so that the user can more easily adjust the size of the video without compromising the width of the Now Playing column (or the Tree column). i.e. we should leave this as is. 3b) the lock aspect ratio functionality isn't required outside of the main player window. 4) I'd suggest Art & Details Window, Full Window, Full Screen ('mode' isn't required). For context, the other 2 commands are 'Change to MiniPlayer' and 'Change to MicroPlayer'. 6) I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying that the Art&Details window should never be moveable ? |
3b) So the command is redundant in the Full Window context menu, right? 4) As for 'Art & Details Window', so you think that the window shouldn't be titled 'Video' when playing a video? A problem related to this is described in 1) 6) No, I meant the context menu command that moves video relative to window. |
3b) correct--the command isn't required for the Full Window context menu. 4) It's probably preferable for the Titlebar to 'Art & Details' all the time, so that it's clear what that window is called. It's not a big deal one way or the other, though, since in the default install, the Titlebar isn't even visible. 6) Ahh... I see. I'm not sure when it's needed either--is it really only for subtitles ? 7) 'Show Titlebar (move window)' doesn't show up in the context menu for the Art & Details window when video is playing. |
