Summary0007270: ID3v2 Year not compatible with Winamp & Mp3tag
DescriptionChanges on Year tag are not stored in ID3v2 tag correctly, Winamp (5.541, 5.55, 5.601) has empty Year box and Mp3tag (2.47b) displays something like 2011\\2011 instead of 2011. It seems that other tags like Artist are stored correctly into ID3v2.

Tested 1294, 1333, 1342, 1345, all have same behavior.
Steps To Reproduce- Turn off Infer track properties option;
- choose Store MP3 file properties using: ID3v1 and v2 tags;
- find some track in My Computer node with empty ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags or use Clean ID3v1 and v2 Tags option on some track from the same node;
- enter 2011 into Year field;
- open same track into Winamp and open File Info dialog box, ID3v2 tab -> empty Year text box;
- open same track into Mp3tag -> instead of 2011 there is 2011\\2011.
TagsNo tags attached.

This is already explained in the FAQ:

Thanks for information. It is nice to know that we already have a possibility to resolve that, but since there are many users which don't have time or knowledge to search some FAQ for answers, could I get an explanation why MM don't use the same ID3 tag for Year as Wianmp by default? Is there some drawback of that? To be honest, Winamp is much more popular player then MM, and I think that MM should not use something which is not compatible with it. Although, I see that it is not the only player/software affected by such approach, since I found at least one more program (Mp3tag) which has the same problem with that MM tag.

This has been tried in the past to make tagging as compatible as possible, but since every application has a slightly different approach, it isn't possible to make the best for everyone.
