Summary | 0008431: Album Art Scanning / Thumbnail generation sometimes associates wrong album art
Description | On a clean install of build 1437, there are several Albums that display Album Art that have nothing to do with the tracks on the Album (i.e. artwork isn't from the same directory, artist, or album). All of these albums display 'No Artwork' image in Properties > Artwork tab, regardless of whether they actually possess artwork or not. Here's a short video of this: http://screencast.com/t/UqxTm3UcCs

Upon further investigation, it seems that the problem occurs whenever tracks from an album are split between multiple directories or tracks from different albums are within a single directory: Case 1) 2 Different tracks by an artist from different Albums ("" and "Unknown") were contained in a single Folder, but neither had artwork. MM somehow assigned artwork from an unrelated 3rd album Case 2) Tracks from Album A were split up in 2 different locations (e.g. 1 in /Music/Dave Mathews/... and the other in /Download/Dave Mathews/..., only one of which contained folder.jpg. MM then assigned unrelated artwork to that album. Again: in both cases, the artwork was only assigned to the View--MM didn't actually change the artwork in the Properties, though it did add some strange 'unknown art' links in some cases. This bug also occurred in MM3, though it manifested itself differently: it would display no album art in the Art/Art&Details views for such cases, rather than the wrong album art. |
