Summary | 0008865: View settings don't persist consistently for Playlists
Description | In build 1461, changing the View of Music to e.g. Art View causes any AutoPlaylists that are set as 'Music' to adopt the Art View. Similarly, changes to 'Entire Library' causes Playlists that are set as 'Entire Library' to adopt the same view. i.e. the views are always in sync. However, subsequently changing the AutoPlaylist/Playlist views causes the views to go out of sync. i.e. from that point forward, the View settings (Art/Art&Details/etc.) between Collections and Playlists/AutoPlaylists associated with those collections are independent. This behavior is inconsistent. As far as which behavior is preferable, my understanding from bug 0007167 is that the latter behavior is what was intended by design. This makes sense because the former behavior causes Playlists to switch to e.g. 'Art View' which almost never makes sense for a playlist. The only question is what view settings do the playlists adopt--is there a single View setting associated with each Playlist-Collectiontype?

Each playlist have it's own view settings so when you change some properties (view mode for example), then this view mode will persist even when view mode of associated collection is different. |

Here's a better description of what I mean: http://screencast.com/t/AenfZYjy6Awb |
|
Custom view settings for playlist will be saved once you change it ... so when you change view in collection, playlist will use his settings when playlist have no his own settings ... but when you change view mode in playlist, then it will be saved and used next time playlist is selected. |

OK. It's still very confusing to have a playlist change to a view that is basically useless for a playlist (Art View) when MM is initially run. I would suggest that it should be decoupled from the very beginning. (priority reduced). |

It's a complex change so i prefer to postpone to 4.1 |
