Summary | 0008930: After uninstalling J.River Media Center scripting no longer works
Description | This happened to me today on Win XP. I uninstalled J. R. Media Center 16 before it evaluated its trial After that I started MediaMonkey and this error: "Error happened during script execution: Could not start Windows scripting control (msscript.ocx). You can install it from http://microsoft.com/downloads/." Once I installed J. River Media Center again then also MediaMonkey works again without the script error! It seems that J. River Media Center adds/removes the 'msscript.ocx' when installing/uninstalling. The workaround is to re-install MediaMonkey or J.River. So it looks that we should add a KB article and include 're-installing MediaMonkey might help' to the error string above (for the next version).

Peke was able to replicate this in XP Mode. MSSCRIPT.OCX got Unregistered and Deleted. If MM is started than it doesn't happen. After Uninstall JR when MM started I could not replicate bug anymore :( |

Note: JR and any app that tries to delete MSSCRIPT.OCX while it is in use (Sytarted MM) will fail and MM will work as it should. It is JR issue. |
