Summary | 0008946: Art with Details Sorting
Description | The primary issue is how to sort Albums with the same name and same Album Artist, but are actually separate Albums. Sorting on Columns like Artist, Title, Track#, Disc#, Date and Played# will actually split the Album up and sort as expected. 1) However if in sorting on these columns 2 tracks of the same Album but with different values in the sorted field end up together they're grouped together. These seems unexpected as the values are different. For example if track# is 19 and 20 and no other file with track# 20 is in view tracks 19 and 20 will be grouped together. 2) Sorting on Summary (Art View) doesn't take the actual value into account. So if you have tracks from Album 1 and Album Artist 1, but with differing Date (2 different releases of same Album) and have Summary (Art View) set to: line 1: Album Artist line 2: Date - Album the tracks always get grouped together and even when sorting on Summary won't be split in two Albums. Due to issue 1 sorting on Album > Date may or may not work to split the Album

Petr, please review, but it seems to me that if user needs to split two instances of the same Album, the Album title would have to be made different, e.g.: Beatles - Abbey Road Beatles - Abbey Road (1990 re-release) |
|
Yes ... there must be a difference to show them separate. Editing masks for Summary column may help (to make albums different). |
|
I strongly disagree. Sorting on Summary should split unique values of the Summary field and not group them on the same Album. Also sorting on any other column where tracks with different values in that column end sequential in list shouldn't group them, but keep them split. |

Based on http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=64001 there's a regression. |
