Summary | 0002107: Auto-Conversion: Users should be able to define what formats are supported on a device
Description | For users of devices for which MM is unable to detect supported formats, MM doesn't have any means for users to define what formats are supported on the device, and as a consequence users are forced to enter very complex auto-conversion rules. (Note: this suggestion may also help resolve the issue raised in bug 2367 that there's no way to synch formats that aren't reported as supported by WMDM). To get around this, it is suggested that the following section be added to the Auto-Conversion dialog: .Convert the following formats when [synchronizing/burning]: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |Format on PC | Bitrate | Format on Device |------------------------------------------------------------------------ | [ ] Any | > 160 Kbps | MP3 128 Kbps | [x] Incompatible | Any | MP3 128 Kbps | <Add Auto-Conversion Rule> | -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ^ V X |-Compatible audio formats ([Disc Player/Device])------------------------ | [ ] MP3 [ ] OGG [ ] WMA | [ ] etc. -------------------------------------------------------------------------

I agree, just due to limited space the actual setting should be made in another dialog and this part should only show the supported formats - pretty much as Ludek alread did it in CD/DVD burning wizard. Are we in agreement that these two features could use the same approach? |

I agree that both burning and synching should use the same approach. My preference would be to not force the user into another screen, but if you think it's too difficult, then we can live with that. |

Assigning to Ludek. - Please implement the same you did for CD/DVD burning also for Synchronization (FormDeviceSettings.pas). Feel free to discuss any issues with me. - Make the format selection (with the list of checkboxes) dialog a little wider, currently it looks weird. |
