The Auto-Conversion functionality for burning was implemented in build 962. There are added a new button and dialog that allow a user to set supported formats by his/her CD player. There are also several new texts could be changed by Rusty. i.e. - When not enough estimated free space for convertion: 'There will be probably not enough free space to convert all tracks. Check the temporary directory free space' [Cancel] [Retry] - When Auto-Conversion fails: 'There was a problem during Auto-Conversion' [Ok] - Text on showing the new 'Select format' dialog: 'Select formats that your CD player supports.' |

[[Yes]] [Cancel] - When Auto-Conversion fails: 'There was a problem during Auto-Conversion' [Ok] q) When does this error message occur? Does it occur only once or can it occur multiple times? - Text on showing the new 'Select format' dialog: 'Select formats that your CD player supports.' -->'Select formats supported by the the device that will play this CD/DVD.' Re. Functionality: 1) If the user doesn't have a gold license, then the same popup should appear as when the user tries clicks the Synchronization Auto-Conversion tab. 2) The Auto-Convert option makes more sense on the 'Choose Disc Format' panel, just below the 'Burn .m3u Playlists' option. 3) One aspect of the Auto-convert function on CD/DVD doesn't translate well from portable devices: On a portable device, the device often reports what formats supported, and thus it makes sense to separate the supported devices field (since it's not usually configurable). However, with a cd/dvd, the device _never_ reports on what formats are supported. Thus it would make more sense to get rid of the 'supported devices' area entirely, and integrate this function into the auto-conversion rules (since right now we're effectively splitting the rule configuration to different portions of the UI). If this isn't too much work, one possibility is: Format on PC: any, [any except], selected . . . . . . [x] MP3 . . . . . . [ ] WMA . . . . . . . . . |

3) I'd prefer to make it similar to synchronization functionality (as it currently is). Not only it's good because we can make it both look the same way, but also I like the fact that you can configure supported formats (like: mp3, ogg, wma) and then only set rules for incompatible formats (e.g. incompatible between 100..200, incompatible >200, etc.). |

OK, let's hold off on 3) for now. I'll review the issue again when everything else is fixed. Note: my problem isn't so much the presentation of this information, but rather the fact that the user has to go to 2 different locations to configure a rule, when we could easily do it via a single interface. |

I must disagree with couple of things: 1. 'There will be probably not enough free space to convert all tracks. Check the temporary directory free space' [Cancel] [Retry] is more useful than 'There is insufficient space in the temporary directory to convert all tracks. Do you want to continue?' [[Yes]] [Cancel] cause a user can check the space in temp dir and free this space (by deleting some files on the disk where temp dir. appears) and then click [Retry] button to be able to continue with sufficient space. He cannot continue without sufficient space for pre-converted files! 2. Re: The Auto-Convert option makes more sense on the 'Choose Disc Format' panel, just below the 'Burn .m3u Playlists' option. I've investigated major portion of time to improve total size counting on 'Edit data CD/DVD content' page so that a user could comfortable calculate the total file size while he is changing his AC settings (by using [options] button, enabling AC, checking items). ( By improving I mean mainly speeding up size counting by keeping checked items in memory and by using of hashing structures.) --> i.e. I think that its place is very useful and right In addition it does not take any necessary room like in case of the next page. Re: 'There was a problem during Auto-Conversion' [Ok] This message occurs only once, after some of converted files has failed or after a user has clicked [Cancel] button in case of message 'There won't be probably enough free space to convert all tracks. Check the temporary directory free space' [Cancel] [Retry] Re: 'Select formats supported by the the device that will play this CD/DVD.' I would like the text to include word 'compatible' or 'compatible formats' cause in AC settings a user sets Format on PC: 'incompatible'. |

And another thing is that text used for MM Gold (in case of Synchronization) is 'The standard version of MediaMonkey will synchronize tracks exactly as they exist in your Library. To synchronize and convert unsupported or high-bandwidth tracks on-the-fly to formats that are supported and take up less memory on your device, please upgrade to MediaMonkey Gold.' Please, give me another text which could be used in case of burning, thx. |

Here's a new string that can be used for burning and synching--i.e. just replace the current string with this: The standard version of MediaMonkey burns and synchs tracks in the format in which they exist in your Library. To convert tracks on-the fly to different formats or to lower bitrates, please upgrade to MediaMonkey Gold. |

1) Makes sense, my original intent was mainly for gramatical clarify, but this revised suggestion should meet all needs: 'There isn't enough free space to convert all tracks. Please clear space in the temporary directory. [[Retry]] [Cancel]' 2) I still think that auto-convert makes more sense on the following panel. On the first panel user selects _what_ music. On the next panel, they select _how_ the music is to be transfered. Let's leave it for now, though--I'll re-evaluate in the next build. 3) Re. 3) I'm ok with holding off on any major changes. Main thing to keep in mind is that the UI should be similar to 0002107. Also, keep in mind 0002108--it would be good if the code could be reused. |

All have been resolved except 0002108. This will be solved in that bug. |
