Summary | 0002254: No Shortcut to 'My Desktop' in MediaMonkey
Description | MediaMonkey has no link in 'My Computer' or in various browser dialogs to My Desktop, forcing users to figure out how to browse to the desktop via C:/Documents and Settings/<UserName>/Desktop A possible way to implement this is to: -change 'My Computer' to 'Desktop' -have the following nodes sub to desktop: 'My Documents', 'My Computer', 'My Network Places' This would have to be done across all dialogs in which this is presented.
Additional Information | Tree on a Vista Machine: ------------------------ Desktop --<Owner> ----Contacts ----[Desktop] ----[Documents] ----[Downloads] ----[[Favorites]] ----Links ----[Music] ----[[Pictures]] ----Saved Games ----[[Videos]] --Public ----[Public Documents] ----[Public Downloads] ----[Public Music] ----[[Public Pictures]] ----[[Public Videos]] Computer --<Drives> Network --<Net locations> MediaMonkey (on Vista) ---------------------- My Computer --<Drives> --<Owner> ----Contacts ----Desktop ----Documents ----Downloads ----Favorites ----Links ----Music ----Pictures ----Saved Games ----Videos --Network Tree on an XP Machine: ---------------------- Desktop --My Documents ----My Downloads ----My Music ----My Pictures ----My Videos --My Computer --My Network Places ----Entire Network ------Microsoft Windows Network --------<Individual Networks> ------<Network Shortcuts> MediaMonkey on XP: ------------------ My Computer My Documents --My Downloads --My Music --My Pictures --My Videos Network --<Individual Networks>

Alternatively, we can leave the Main Panel as is, and just modify the various dialogs that have expose the filesystem so that they match the OS upon which they're deployed. e.g. The Add Folders dialog on Vista should have the Vista structure, and on XP should match the XP structure. |
|
Based on comparison of all the trees, I'd say that we could: On Vista: Add Public tree next to <Owner> tree in MM (i.e. at the same level in the tree). On XP: Add My Desktop next to My Documents. However, feel free to suggest other implementation, particularly if it simplifies the implementation in MM (i.e. works well in Location node, etc.). |
