Summary | 0000228: Users should be able to access files via 'My Documents'
Description | After doing a bit of user testing, one of the requests that came up was to make it easier for users to perform operations via 'My Documents', since most users do not know the path to 'My Documents'. This would require the following: 1) In Add Folders: Add a 'My Documents' node sub to My Computer. 2) In the My Computer Node: Add a 'My Documents' node sub to My Computer. 3) In the Locations Node: Add a 'My Documents' node sub to Locations IFF there are files within the folder or its children. 4) In the Locate/Moved Missing Tracks dialog: Add a 'My Documents' node... 5) MediaMonkey must 'know' that a file that has been scanned via /My Documents/My Music/Phil Collins IS EQUAL to the same file that is scanned via C:/Documents and Settings/Rusty/My Documents/My Music/Phil Collins
Additional Information | I recently observed another new MM user doing some common activities, and they had the same problem--they didn't know how to access their files which were stored in 'My Documents'. I also recently received the following from a user: I can't seem to be able to get all of my music files to media monkey. I clicked on add to library, but all it gives me is the choices of my computer, or drive a, c, d or e. most of my music files are in my music or my documents and I can't get them all to appear in the library only some of them show up. How can I get all of my mp3 and music files to transfer to the media monkey? Raising to 'Urgent'

Note: the correct way to implement this would be to change: 'My Computer' to 'Desktop' and to have the following nodes sub to desktop: 'My Documents', 'My Computer', 'My Network Places'. |
|
Jiri suggested switching to 'normal'. My feeling though, is that this helps a large number of users who tend to store files in 'My Documents' and do not know the path to the My Documents folder. If it's easy to fix, I'd prefer to do so for the release. |

I've updated the bug to be more specific about the locations in which the change is required, and raised the priority--this issue is confusing to many users. I still believe that the preferable way to implement this would be to change: 'My Computer' to 'Desktop' and to have the following nodes sub to desktop: 'My Documents', 'My Computer', 'My Network Places', however, I don't know if this will increase the complexity of making this change. Please comment. |

Updating to 'immediate' because we need to add a string for: 'My Documents' and possibly 'Desktop'. |
|
Strings added, decreasing priority. |

Fixed in buld 924. - All is implemented except for 3 (for various reasons). This should be more than enough. - We need an icon for the new node. |
|
I sent the icons (I'd created one for /Locations/My Documents before having read your comment). Re-opening for inclusion. |
|
Icon included in build 924. |

Verified 924, although there are a couple of remaining issues. |
