Summary | 0003098: Podcast usability: no way to play an episode of an unsubscribed podcast
Description | If a user is browsing an OPML directory and comes across an interesting podcast, there's no way to: a) Play the episode. One would expect that double clicking the episode would cause it to play without downloading it to the library. b) Download the episode for later playback. One would expect a context option to 'Download' an episode(s) (without subscribing). c) Select multiple episodes and perform either of the above actions

a) was implemented. b) After some testing of iTunes I found out that they don't allow user to download episodes direct in the Podcast Directory (they can be only played) , user has to firstly to subscribe and then he can download episodes. This propably make sense for us too. Or do you think that user would like to download an episode directly from podcast directory for later use without subscribing? Where he should found such episodes then? I think that more important issue is that there is not enough visual feedback in order "How can I subscribe?". I already have received a complaint from a user who could not find "How to subscribe". Probably the feed button should include a "Subscribe" text (as in iTunes) so that the user could see that the button is for this purposes. c) was implemented for a) |

b) Though iTunes doesn't support this type of usecase, Songbird does. I suppose that this functionality can be deferred until we support downloading of music into the library, across the board. i.e.: -Downloading of tracks on a web page -Downloading of podcasts Tagging as 'resolved'. |
