Summary0003503: Search Current Selection doesn't give ability to undo Search if focus has switched to the tracklist
DescriptionAfter a "search of the current selection", clicking a track in the tracklist causes the search string to disappear, and as a consequence, there is no easy way to 'undo' the search (i.e. the user can't clear the search bar to undo the search).

The search string shouldn't disapear so that the user can see what they searched on and erase it when they want to see all again, however, there should also be a shortcut way to erase the search string:

  - the easiest way is to allow "backspace" from anywhere in the tracklist or trackbrowser to erase the search box... while backspace in the search box itself only erases one letter at a time as usual
(this could be covered under this other issue and suggested solution - 0003280 )

Tested 1074 and I think this has already been resolved.

i.e. initiating a search and pressing enter
-->search term is preserved
-->pressing backspace deletes search term.

what you describe works..

- pressing backspace causes you to delete one letter at a time which works correctly
- pressing enter first, selects the everything in the search box which means if you press backspace, it deletes the search term and refreshes as you said.

however, if you type a search, then you click in the track list (maybe even drag a song to the now playing).. the list stays filtered and the only way to refresh it is to click in the search box / click on a different node and back / press F5 to refresh.

instead of this, I strongly suggest that the text in the search box persists while you're on that node (even if you click in the track list).. and pressing backspace from anywhere automatically erases the search box and refreshes.

however, if you in the search box and press backspace, then it reacts as it does currently.

This would also have the added benefit of being able to re edit your search if you want to refine it without having to type the whole thing again.

Ahh.... I see what you mean. Clicking in the tracklist clears the searchbox, leaving no indication of why the list is filtered.

In terms of a resolution:
-I agree that the search term should persist
-I don't think it's a good idea to have the backspace button act as a shortcut--it has too many other functions, and it's strange for backspace to have an effect on something that isn't in focus.

Raising the priority to 'urgent' and updating the description slightly...

Assigning to Ludek to maintain the persistance of the search term.
