Summary | 0004746: MM Adds duplicate tracks to the DB on network scan via File Monitor
Description | When I added a network path 'My Network Places > Entire Network > Microsoft Windows Network > Workgroup > Rusty > Temp' to the file monitor in build 1181, the path appears as '\'. Then when I restart MM and the file monitor rescans directories, somehow this entry causes tracks in a few directories to be rescanned (specifically directories in \Documents and Settings\Rusty\Desktop\Temp ; \Program Files ; and \Temp). It's very strange that MM only scans those directories and not all directories in the root... Also, I get very strange behavior in the Path field. First it appears as \Documents and Settings\Rusty\Desktop\Temp, then after I select it, it changes to C\Documents and Settings\Rusty\Desktop\Temp (note the absence of a ':' after C). If I try to delete it when the C isn't there, then MM tries to delete it from the library. If I try to delete it after the C appears, then MM prompts the user whether to delete from the library or the HD (as would be expected). This will probably all be solved by fixing 0004738 so that Network Paths are properly added to the file monitor, however, it seems that something more is going on. Petr suggested that the correct fix to this would be to only scan paths that are 3 or more characters long if preceded by '\'.
