Summary | 0005087: Manual version check / check for upgrade
Description | Users sometimes want to check for an upgrade manually and there's currently no way to do so. This can be implemented via an existing string: "Check for updates (when connected)". We should just show: 'Check for updates' (i.e. hide the bracketed text), just above Help > About.

We should include this in 4.1, since we can create a new string as needed. We should also consider automatic checking for Add-on updates. Currently it's possible only manually, which isn't enough e.g. in case a new language pack is created and we need to notify users, because old strings could have has serious problems. Assigning to Rusty to suggest wording for both cases. |

Manual Update check for MM: As suggested at comment 24904 Re. Automatic Updates, no new strings are required. i.e.: Check for updates (when connected) [x] MediaMonkey [x] Addons |
|
Priority set to 'urgent' based on OEM requests. Note: on further discussion--no need for manual update checks via this portion of the UI (any such checks should be automatic and unless trivial, tracked via another bug). |
|
Fixed in build 1601 (added the manual check as noted in the description). Note that two new string were added: 1) in case when user doesn't have an internet connection: 'MediaMonkey couldn't check for the updates, there is a problem with your internet connection' 2) In case that no new version exists: 'MediaMonkey 4.0.6.1500 is the current version' |
|
Re. 1) I would suggest splitting this into 2 strings: a) 'MediaMonkey could not check for updates;' b) 'There is a problem with your internet connection.' |

Wording changed in build 1601 |
