Summary | 0007513: Language installer should support versioning
Description | Currently, the installer links to language files without regards to the version of the language file. This may be problematic when a new version of MediaMonkey is introduced. Should we: 1) link to e.g. ..sw/lang/3_0_0_1349/dutch.mmip ? 2) have a string indicating 'Language strings are out of date. Some portions of the UI may not be fully translated.'

1) Makes sense, I'd change the links to lang/4.0/dutch.mmip . Major.minor version numbers should be enough and easier to maintain. 2) I don't think it's necessary, we'll hopefully have all localized around the release time and even if we don't, it probably isn't really needed to be notified this way. |

Sounds good. Let's implement right away (leaving as 'immediate'). |

Tested build 1354 and I can't seem to get it to work. Network sniffer shows: GET /sw/lang/4.0/French HTTP/1.1 Host: www.mediamonkey.com and that seems to match the location of the files (e.g. /sw/lang/4.0/LanguageName.mmip ) however, it doesn't work (it generates a 'Failed to download language files...' error.). |
