Okay, I see I can change what is displayed, but this seems very strange: - The column is named Artist/Album when I selected Title/Date. - This is not a Collection setting, but a Type settings (which is why I requested the Movie Type to be added). - The settings tooltip indicates it will be shown below art when it's a separate column here. I also would have never guessed this setting controls it, even after being told to change the setting it took me a while. - Sorting on Title in the Art & Details view sorting on Album/Artist shows all files grouped with single Art under grouping unknown. - Sorting on Title, doesn't show each movie as individual entry with Art (Column Browser is also useless in this scenario). In other words MM doesn't seem movie friendly as it's Album/Series oriented which doesn't apply to movies. |

I can't replicate the issue that "Artist/Album" is displayed (I don't see a Title/Date column to enable). Re. the fact that fields that aren't relevant to videos can be displayed, that's fine, because Collections are not necessarily restricted to a particular Type of file. e.g. Collection 'Personal' might include Audios, and Videos. As far as the fact that the Type settings control what text appears next to an album, the logic is that Type defines any track-specific settings, so if a collection has some audio files and some video files, they would both display with appropriate descriptors. Your screen cap does show a major issues though: that the Art&Details view isn't fully optimized to Videos. i.e.: 1) In the default sort, all videos where series=Unknown show up stacked under a single image. This shouldn't be the case--i.e. when Series=Unknown, all Files should have their own images (sub to a grouping 'Unknown' if the primary sort is by Series). 2) Sorting by Title stacks files incorrectly (i.e. they shouldn't be stacked when sorted by Title) 3) Related to the above, sorting by Series and then by Title results in bugging grouping (groups aren't in alphabetic order). The column name is Artist/Album, but what is shown is controlled under Tools > Options > Playback Rules. I've changed it for the Video type to Title/Date. So now the Artist/Album column does show the Title/Date values, but the column name remains Artist/Album (see screenshot). The problem solving this is that the setting is per type while the column works on Collection. So when viewing multiple types of files the column might display Artist/Album for Music and Title/Date for Video. The column name in other words would need to be something that's independent from what is displayed. |

LL, I see what you mean. Let's call that issue 4): i) The Artist/Album column is actually the 'Summary (Art)' column and isn't named appropriately for anything other than Collection=Music. ii) Sorting by that column doesn't work correctly for anything other than its default configuration in the Music Collection. Possible fixes: i-a) Dynamically name the column as suggested by LL i-b) Name the column something generic such as 'Summary (Art View)' . But that's not great since it doesn't really tell the user anything about what sorting by that column does. ii) implement sorting so that it is dynamic (i.e. based on the values within that column) |
i-a will cause problems when viewing a multi-type selection as Type controls naming. i-b avoids that problem. |
Yes something like 'Summary (Art)' makes sense. |
I've changed column title to 'Summary (Art View)' and disabled sorting because there's complication. In new collection (without specified type) it can contain different types and it's impossible to use it for sorting (as some albums are showing different fields in this column). Will be in 1414. |
I've enabled Album Artist column for AA+Details view because Summary column can't be used for sorting anymore. |

There are a couple of issues re. 4) i) Summary(Art view) --> Summary (Art view) ii) The lack of sorting on the Summary column in AA+Details is problematic since sorting by Summary was the mechanism planned for useful sorting of video (i.e. sort by Series & Episode when both exist, and by Episode only when Series doesn't exist). iii) Sorting by Summary as defined above (ii) is not working in the AA view iv) The column chooser has duplicate entries for the Summary Column (this is visible in various combinations of Collections/Views e.g. Music/A&D, Video/ArtBrowser, and in each case, the duplication is a bit different). See attached image. Also a couple of related issues: v) Certain fields in the column chooser can't be enabled, and I'm not sure why: Album Artist for Podcasts, Album & Series in most Art&Details views. vi) Series column can't be disabled in Video/Art&Details view |
