As discussseed in 0007450, video has its own output device setting, so user can set other device for audio only and other for video, user just should set output device as needed there. |

I think that the problem is mainly a usability issue. Most users would reasonably expect that if they change the audio output device, that it would change for all aspects of the application. I can see a few approaches to resolving the usability issue: 1) Move the configuration for Video to the output plugins (so that users realize that there are 2 different config settings for audio) 2) Add a 'Default' or 'Output Plugin settings' setting ('Default' string already exists) which simply applies the settings of the output plugin to the Video plugin. |
|
1) This is possible, but wouldn't look too good. 2) This is technically almost impossible. Given this, I'd propose to not do anything about it and make it only a documentation issue. |

I agree with Jiri. Example: I prefer to play Video thrum HDMI audio to TV, But when playing Music in MM I would like to play it thru Hi-Fi Stereo or Headphones. Leaving to Rusty for resolving after TODOC is Solved. |

This isn't a documentation issue. It's an issue with the terminology and usability in our UI. -Terminology: currently the UI refers to 'Output plugins'. Perhaps a simpler approach would be to just clarify this by changing it to something like 'Audio output plugins'. -UI: If the user is playing a video, and right clicks on the player -> 'Configure current output plug-in', MM shows the _audio_ Output Plugin, instead of the relevant Video plugin. The fix should be that right-clicking on the player when a video is active, gives config options relevant to _video_. It's a minor issue, but it's needless confusion. |
