Summary | 0009734: Persist Now Playing mode
Description | Currently, if the user prefers to use the NP > List view, MM always forces the user to first switch to NP > Art view first, switch to NP > List, exit to NP > Art, and then go through the whole series of steps again. Instead, the Now Playing mode (List vs Art view) should persist, so that if a user prefers one mode of operation over the other, MM switches to the last used mode. Similarly, clicking 'back' from the NP > List view should go back to the List Browser view that opened NP. e.g. Upon clicking 'Play' the NP > List mode would open instead of NP > Tracks. Note: if the user clicks Album Art in the miniplayer, the NP mode would always show the Art View (i.e. there's still a deficiency in the UI in that there's no means of manually switching directly to NP > List).

On further discussion, clicking on AA from the miniplayer --> NP>Art view, which means that the only time that the only time that the persisted version of NP would open is when it opens automatically if the user clicks a track. But that's kind of useless. Possible ways around this are: a) clicking the AA would cause the persisted version of NP to open (I'm not sure if that necessarily a good idea--although Google's music player does that) b) in addition to a) the icon on the miniplayer would change from AA to AA with List superimposed, depending on what NP mode was persisted. Reducing priority for now, pending feedback. |

Upon further thought, the solution (or a variant of the approach) presented at 0012143 makes more sense. Resolving/Won't fix. |

Note: the main reason why I preferred 0012143 is because I don't like the idea of showing the AA in the miniplayer, but having it link to the NP list view. A way around that is for the MiniPlayer AA to display but with a NP-List icon superimposed. |
