Summary | 0015058: Playback: Ability to play Video files in "Now Playing" view
Description | Currently there is no way to Play video file in any other part of MM5 layout except in Art And Details view, while Music files can be played and when Now Playing View is selected it shows additional information about track like lyrics, Album art, Artist info/pics, ... Where Video Playback shows incorrect information. I would suggest that under Playback rules we add default view for Play Now eg. Focus "Now Playing" on "Play Now" which will 1. allow Video to be played in much bigger window without compromising UI 2. if Video Podcasts are played in Now playing user can still read podcast text on the right side where Lyrics are shown for Audio Files. 3. Audio files would automatically show additional info 4. In case of TV Series it would be possible to read episode synopsis 5. Art And Details would show additional info and be more feature consistent with Audio files

Added relations to: 0015048: Which relates to Video playback enhancement where one of views could be playing in "Now Playing" view 0015057: Unlike in MM4 "Now playing" view serves different function |

I suppose that this could be resolved as part of ~51608. i.e. Treat videos in the same manner as visualizations as proposed in that bug (they'd appear in area where the tracklist currently appears). Assigning to Jiri to review as part of 0015157. |

Per my comment 0015157:0051634, I'd rather leave the current video playback implementation intact, as it seems to me to be the most useful for most cases. As for the initial reason for this issue, I'm not sure whether it's a too important use-case. I'd say that opening either Properties or Lyrics panel would work just fine. |
|
Given the approach being taken at 0015157 it seems that it doesn't really make sense to use a different implementation for video. If there's a need to view Properties while editing a video, the user could use the Properties dialog for that purpose. |
