Summary | 0002876: Album Art Details view: Multiple track selection doesn't work correctly
Description | Selection/Deselection with multiple tracks doesn't work correctly and is a bit confusing: a) Can't use <Ctrl> or <Shift> to select more than one track for editing. Similarly, deselection using <Ctrl> or <Shift> doesn't work - at the moment, ctrl-clicking on a song visually selects that song but adds the whole album to the selection also. suggested implementation (from Dale 0003278) - ctrl-clicking on the album image (or Album column area) adds the whole album to the selection - ctrl-clicking on a track adds only that track to the selection - ctrl-clicking on an album and then ctrl clicking on a track within adds the whole album but then removes it from the selection and adds all the tracks individually (excluding the one just clicked on) - essentially adding an album and then subtracting one track. b) Selection feedback is unclear: if the user clicks on the Album column all tracks on the album are 'semi-selected' however, it's unclear what this means. examples: -if the user right-clicks Properties it's unclear which track(s) are being edited (is it the semi-selected tracks, or the selected track?) -if the user drags and drops the selected track MM tries to modify the properties of all tracks on the album -if the user drags and drops the Album, MM tries to modify only the currently selected track. Some examples this issue originally raised by Morten in 3479 are: a) When a user press CTRL+A and then press on a track inside one of the albums, all the other albums should lose their album-highlight. b) When a user press CTRL+ keys, MM should highlight all the tracks inside the album as well. c) When the user edits a text field inside an album, the album-selection gets brighter (like the unactive color). This shouldn't happen. d) When the user goes from trying to editing a track (having the edit-box open inside the album-art view - not the edit-window), to the playlist, the album art-view gets an active highlightning and the playlist's highlighting is just like it was. The simplest solution would be to only have 1 selection state for tracks, and show an Album as selected only if all tracks are also selected (and vice versa).

Note: even selecting a single track doesn't work correctly. e.g. select a single track in Album Art + Details view and press Delete --> Nothing happens. |
|
There are huge changes in album art view (including multi-select), so please review this issue in 1083. |
|
Tested in 1083, and I've decided to open this issue again because of these sub-issues; - This overhaul seems to have removed some of the "Album"-background color feature --> You need to select all tracks in the album to get this behaviour, although it should only need one track selection. - This may be reported elsewhere, but right-click action doesn't work directly on a track in AA+Details view. |

re album selection : album will be selected only when all tracks within album are selected. |
|
I agree and disagree. There should be one more resource to solve this; 1) Unfocused album-selection (implemented) 2) Focused album-selection (implemented) 3) Focused album-selection with all tracks selected. (not implemented, but this is what number 2 resource is used for now). There should be an indicator that a track in the album is selected --> and I have a good idea for how to show when ALL tracks are selected. |

Discussed with Jiri and we're pushing it to 'urgent'. |
