Summary | 0003479: Album Art-view: Some issues
Description | 1) When a user (in Album Art view) presses a track, the horisontal scrollbars aligns to that particular text-field. However, this text-field is so wide that this "smart" function implemented some weeks ago HIDES the album art. This function should be limited to the text-field itself, and not how wide the column is imo. The reference could also be based on all the track lengths (letter-wise) on the whole, selected album. 2) Isn't possible to select more than one song at a time. (I know Petr is working on that) 3) Double-clicking the arrow causes another track to start. 4) This is REALLY important; a) It takes ages to change songs in album art-view mode. (This is when the playlist is very long though; 20.000 tracks) WMP11 uses about 0.1 seconds to change song under these circumstances. b) I have sometimes experienced that the program started another song than the one I double-clicked in album-art mode (often when moving the mouse-pointer quickly enough down from the clicked track). This could be related to issue 4a. 5) Double-clicking an album in the other album-view mode (without tracks) should either; a) Open the tracklist of this album with only text tracks. b) Open the album-view mode with tracklist viewable. - What the user prefers of these two, must of course be remembered by the program. A reference here is WMP11. 6) The more subtle grey color (not the track-selection color) should be everlasting in width. 7) More columns.

I added three relationships to other issues |
|
I have noted another issue; 8) Inconsistancy between selected album and selected tracks; a) When a user press CTRL+A and then press on a track inside one of the albums, all the other albums should miss their album-highlight. b) When a user press CTRL+ keys, MM should highlight all the tracks inside the album as well. c) When the user edits a text field inside an album, the album-selection gets brighter (like the unactive color). This shouldn't happen. d) When the user goes from trying to editing a track (having the edit-box open inside the album-art view - not the edit-window), to the playlist, the album art-view gets an active highlightning and the playlist's highlighting is just like it was. It should be opposit. It's difficult to explain this to the tip, but this is all logical. For me anyways. |

Fixed items 4, 7 |

To clarify and prioritize: 1) When a user (in Album Art Details view) selects a track, if the window size is narrow, it causes the content to scroll horizontally, thereby obscuring the artwork. This isn't that critical since it only occurs when the screen width is very narrow. 2) Selection in Album Art view still doesn't function correctly (can't select more than one track for editing). Priority is 'urgent'. 3) Double-clicking the down arrow in Album Art Details view causes a track to play (and it's not the selected track!!). This should be considered 'immediate', since it clears the NP list unintentionally. 5) I disagree with Morton on this. Selected view should not change the double-click behavior. 6) This is a good point. If the window is maximized and the user is browsing Albums in Album Art + Details view, it would look cleaner if the selected Album was semi-highlighted across the entire screen (right now, the semi-highlight only extends to the right margin of the last column). As Petr pointed out though, this also affects the regular Details view. Simplest solution would be to add a few more relevant columns. Priority 'urgent'. |
|
5) The thing is Rusty that the user doesn't know; a) How many tracks the album has (if it doesn't wait for the popup-info, or if he has that function turned off) b) Has no control whatsoever of which track is playing first and can't start other tracks than number 1. Therefore I think this function won't have any use in it's current form. WMP11 is the player who has implemented this function nicely (it also has tiling of several albums on top of each other). iTunes has CoverFlow instead. Anyway, we can postpone this issue for now - but we should do something with this in the future. |

Closing since all issues have been split out into other individual bugs for better tracking (the exception being issue 5 which is a huge item that is currently out of scope until we implement hierarchy in the tracklist). |
