Summary0004032: Auto-tag from Web doesn't use Album Art tagging settings
DescriptionAuto-tag from Web has a bit of a design issue in the sense that it gives the user a parallel set of options for tagging Artwork, to the options that are available for all other Album Art tagging operations in Tools > Options > Tags and Playlists > Album Art.

Autotag from Web AA Options:
Save to tag
Save to Album Folder
Save to common Folder
Ask

Tags and Playlists > Album Art options:
Save to tag then album (if tag isn't doable)
Save to album folder
Save to Tag and Album
[ ] Confirm

We should completely eliminate Album Art options that are specific to Auto-tag from web, and just use the options that are configured in Tags and Playlists > Album Art.
TagsNo tags attached.
Fixed in build

"Save to common Folder" has been already eliminated from Auto tag options in the bug 0003988 !
I guess that it is currently fully compatible / joined.
i.e. If you change anything in Autotag from Web AA Options
, it is also changed in Tags and Playlists > Album Art options.

I don't see any inconsistence. Could you specify where is problem?
Do you think that changing 'Autotag from Web AA Options' should not be applied to 'Tags and Playlists > Album Art options' ??

The problem isn't inconsistency, but rather duplication. i.e. if the user already configured how he wants album art to be saved, he shouldn't have to do it again for Auto-tag from Amazon--there should just be a single configuration framework that is used whenever album art is tagged.

Note: we should defer this beyond 3.0.

Note: in the course of discussing bug 0004086, it was suggested that when we tackle this bug, it might also make sense to treat AA tags in the same manner as other tags--i.e. that:
-User should configure 1 time only whether tags are saved to the db or to the tag
-User should configure rules re. e.g. whether tags > xxxKB should be saved to the tag; whether > x images should be saved to the tag.
-If we do this, then even if the user Cleans the tag, the AA should remain in the DB (like all other properties do)

Some feedback from a user to ensure us that there is still a little glitch in this area:
http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=122396#122396

The reason is that we tried to make the album art configuration more global, but there is still some inconsistency / mismatch.

i.e.
Auto tag from web is using the same setting as is configured in
Options -> Tags & Playlists -> Album Art
and therefore there should be rather only a link to this setting or a common configuration framework (As Rusty has already mentioned).
This framework should be used also for addition an image from file or bitmap and maybe also for Burning and device sync.
